Joining as a founding lab member is a rare opportunity to shape a new group from day one. Yonatan is reviewing inquiries now ahead of the lab's launch — early conversations are welcome. Learn more about UCSB Bioengineering.
Postdoctoral researchers
We are looking for postdocs with backgrounds in synthetic biology, mRNA biology, microbial ecology, biophysics, computational biology, or biomolecular engineering. To apply, send a single PDF containing:
- Cover letter describing why our work interests you and what you'd want to pursue (1–2 pages).
- CV with publications.
- Names and contact information for three references.
Graduate students
Prospective graduate students should apply through the relevant UC Santa Barbara graduate program (e.g., Bioengineering) and reach out to indicate interest in rotating with us. Current and incoming UCSB students are welcome to email about rotation projects for the lab's first year.
Undergraduates
Undergraduate researchers are welcome and play a real role in the lab. Email a brief note about your background, courses, and what excites you about our research.
What we look for
- Deep curiosity and a habit of asking deeper questions.
- The gumption to find a way to make things work — and to reveal new knowledge about how nature works.
- Care for collaborators and a willingness to teach what you know.
- Either deep technical chops or a strong intent to build them — we'll help.
